Summer Financial Aid Information

Are you planning on taking summer classes at Findlay?

You could be eligible for additional financial aid during the summer, including additional Pell grant funds, if you take six or more credit hours during Summer College.

To be considered for summer financial aid, a student must:

  • Complete the 2025-26 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Other Steps to Consider:

  1. Review your 2025-2026 Financial Aid Award, if you have not submitted a 2025-2026 FAFSA application please do so here.
  2. Make sure there are no outstanding balances on your account to prevent your registration.
  3. Contact your Financial Aid counselor to discuss any questions.

Types of Summer Aid:

Grants: UF offers several types of federal and state grants during summer including Pell, TEACH, OCOG. Summer grants will be awarded based on your registered hours at the time your application is processed and may be impacted by amounts already received during the fall and spring semester.

Loans: Students can use Federal Direct Loans if enrolled at least 6 credit hours as an undergraduate student or at least 4.5 credit hours as a graduate student. The Department of Education provides annual loan limits for students, so funds borrowed in the prior fall and spring term may impact loan amounts available for summer.

Those who wish to borrow a Parent PLUS or Graduate PLUS loan for Summer or Summer/Fall/Spring, must apply on StudentAid.gov by selecting the appropriate loan period (designated in the chart below). Prior to requesting an amount in a Direct PLUS Loan, you should factor in the Department of Education’s Direct Loan Origination fee (4.264% for PLUS).

  • Parent PLUS: Student must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for Summer College and have submitted a FAFSA application for the current award year.
  • Private/Alternative Loans: Prior to applying for a private loan, students should consider Federal Direct loan options first. To apply for a private/alternative loan, you must contact your lender for information and application process.
