Experience-Driven Learning

At the University of Findlay, we blend practice, experience and science to create an in-depth knowledge base for our pharmacy students to be successful in the field. Our students learn through our module-based courses, extensive experience in the field, and by becoming engaged in research with faculty.

Patient-Centered Education

Many pharmacy programs teach about normal physiology and disease processes, drug therapy, and how the pharmacist is involved as separate courses. At Findlay, we teach these topics in an integrated manner, one disease state at a time, which allows our students to see the bigger picture in patient-centered care.

APPE Hub Site Rotations

The final year of education is all about experiential training in advanced pharmacy practice experiences (APPEs). With training in areas such as general medicine, health-systems, ambulatory care, advanced community pharmacy, and many special populations and elective areas, Findlay’s experiential program is unparalleled.

Students participate in one-on-one mock interviews with principals and superintendents, gaining real feedback from professionals who hire teachers. In addition, the annual Education Expo connects students with school districts from across the country, where many secure interviews and job offers ahead of graduation.

The career outlook for educators remains strong. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are tens of thousands of teaching job openings each year due to retirements and workforce demand.
